ALEXANDRE SOMA

After a childhood of passionate drawing, at 17, Alexandre Soma began the Industial Design graduation course. Due to the ethnic mix of his family, Soma developed a natural ability to combine the most diverse brazilian culture references. Futuristic, sci-fi enthusiast and inspired by works such as 'Neuromancer', 'Aeon Flux' and 'Blade Runner', the artist used his thirst for quantic-organic technology, buddhist philosophy and traits of the brazilian indigenous imagination to come up with the Biofuturism. With this concept, he creates pieces awarded in contests, such as Levi's be Original and Motomix (2008).

Alongside, he participated of the Brazilian Contemporary expo in the Nederlands Photomuseum (2009) invited by the Zupi magazine. For the first time, Alexandre Soma presents his new series called "Impermanence", mixing not only all his cultural baggage, but also experiences with the use of new supports, technics and an unusual approach with unexpected materials, like onionskins and reused wires, creating a private and puzzling world that resembles scientific photographs.
